It takes a while to realise that life isn't straight
Why won't you fly.
suddenly i vanished
and i wonder if people noticed.

I tend to be slow at realising things, but i will figure it out anyway. I sometimes doubt the true intention of our existence on earth but i will naturally give up thinking. I will be happy if i see you smile so do smile more. :)

Chiang Mai ' 09 (Sunday, November 15, 2009 / 7:05 PM)

HELLO PEOPLE!!!
I AM BACK FROM CHIANG MAI! with a flu and a cold and 17 mosquito bites!. Neverthless, i am so excited to be back! There is SO MUCH things i want to tell you all about this WONDERFUL trip

--Day 1--
Checked in at Changi International Airport and boarded the plane to Bangkok. The plane ride was ABOSOLUTELY horrible. Well, because i had motion sickness. Sitting next to Lovell, a really nice girl(: When the plane landed in Bangkok, i thought my ordeal was over until i was told that we had to take a domestic flight to Chiang Mai. Oh gosh! Sat next to Bo Ning. Very funny how he keeps track 0f everything there, like a personal recount. Almost puked there, so Bo Ning quickly opened the puke bad for me. Guess he was afraid i puked on him:D hahaah. Din puke in the end though. Landed in Chiang Mai and proceeded for sightseeing at the temple. Went back to the hotel for rest after that. Roomed with Jolene from 1I. Our room was REALLY BIG. Its like some extended room like that. The bathroom was fantastic too. ahh, what a wonderful plae to rest after a pukey journey. :D

--Day 2--
dum dum de dum... It was finally the day of the long awaited 4hours long, 10 km trek!! (sense the sacarsm pls). We had to trek to the village with a 3 days 2 nights load on our bags. It was really tough to squeeze all the clothes, toiletries etc into a bag. I though my bag was abt to explode into a million tiny little pieces. The trek was really difficult. Paartly because of the scorching heat, the difficult road and the heavy load on our backs. However, i was very touched by everyone. The SCs are like one big family who takes care of each other. Because the road was very difficult, we constantly have to look out for danger like branches logs or holes on the ground. Then, ppl who spots these dangers never fails to warn the ppl at the back. no matter how tired we were, the message still seems to echo throughout the forest, reaching the ears of everyone. It was srly very tiring, climbing steep slopes, crossing rivers and muds. And, finally, after a gruelling 4hrs hike, we reached the village. It was such a relief to reach the village! Everyone just dropped down their bags and lined up to buy drinks. The cold water sliding down our throats is so refreshing! (not trying to write a descriptive story here) Then, we were showed to our rooms and could bathe alrd. The bathroom was just smth i have never seen before. It was made up of wood and it has no roof above our heads. The wooden planks are so short, tall people had to bend down to bathe! The water was freezing cold because the village had no heater. But whats suprising was that they had a shower head! Some of the boys just stipped down to their under garments and bathed in the river from what i heard. They said it was really refreshing. Too bad i din get a chance:P Ms Lee took a pic of them. Hope she upload it on fb! haha. So it was okay. The toilet was the worst. They had no flushing system so whenever someone pee-ed or pooed inside, they had to pour water in or else it would be stuck inside. It was absolutely smelly. Okay, toilet in Thai is called Hong Nam, so i shall be refferig it as hong nam frm now on. We had dinner prepared by the villagers after that. It was GREAT. I din expect the food to be that nice. Thanks villagers:D Then, we had some free time to roam around the village. Mr Yeo brought a grp of year 1s to watch shooting stars and see fireflies. The stars in Thailand is smth i have never seen before. The sky was pitch black and the blanket of stars is so beautiful! There were ocassional shooting stars too. Too bad we cant admire the stars in S'pore. ): Lights out at 11.

--Day 3--
Today was a really special day for me so i decided to write a personal recount on it... before i slept on that very day itself.
Today, we were woke up by the calls of the roosters . It was a chilly morning and you could see steam coming out of your mouth. We had a special breakfast of glutinuos rice in a stick with red beans inside. It looked like a banana and tasted really good. A breakfast with egg and toast realy satisfied or stomach. Then, with two seedlings in our hands, we headed off to a school to help them paint, plant and build things. The sun was high up in the sky and it was scorching hot. It was really tough, painting under the sun, but it was all worth it. We got to play with the children and saw the happy smiled on thir faces. It was really fun. We then drew pictures on the walls. The most impressive one, frm my pov, was our Dunman High school creat, proudly painted my Peter and Bo Ning . The walls had pretty and colourful pictures on them, it was a nice moment. Everyone just stood there admiring our hard work. It finally paid off.(: A small grp of us witnessed a badminton game by the kids of that school. They seemed really happy playing badminton even though their racket was abit spoilt. Such a simple game cuold make them so happy. Compare them with us, who play computer games all day long, we are really considered fortunate to be living in the city with internet acess. There was this older kid among of all the other smaller ones. He really took care of them, acting as their older bro. The ground on one side was abit uneven so he exchanged place with the smaller kid so that the smaller kid will be safe. I srly almost cried. (: We had a bath before dinner was served. The year 4s and some villagers had a hard time picking mushrooms for our Tom Yam Soup for dinner. It was absolutely delicious, nth i have ever tasted b4. A few chickens were killed and grilled by the 'drunk'Mr Tan. It was really tough but because of the hard time Mr Tan went through to grill the chicken, it somehow tasted sweet in our mouths. The villages also set up for us to patronize. The things the sell were really pretty. After dinner, there ws a bonfire specially set up by the villagers. They put up a song and dance forus while putting on intricate designed costumes. We were also invited to dance with them around the camofire and it was really heartwarming. We had a sing along session and it got us REALLY high. Everyone was in the mood to sing and dance and just let loose our hair. This performance put up by the villagers really touched my heart and i really enjoyed it. We had a debrief then where everyone just shared our own thoughts. We learnt to appriciate what we have. Compared to them, we, who live in the city are really fortunate. For me, i just want to thank the exco for sacrificing their sleep, to help us organize this trip and taking care of us. The teachers who guide us along the way, the villagers who cooked delicious meals for us and taking care of us, the tourguides and last but not least, the SCs who stood by each other through thick and thin, rain or shine. Thank you. After the debrief, we went to admire the stars. We stood there for what seemed like hours before Gordon and I spotted our firat shooting star. We were so excited, Gordon just went 'wooshing'. I wished for happiness and good health for everyone. Now, i am here, writing in the darkness with only a torchlight. Hope i am not disturbing anyone. Its a long day tmrw, so i shall end here, cant wait to share with you all agn!:D

--Day 4--
Today, we left the village early in the morning. Trekked about 30 mins before a pick up van took us to the elephant camp. It was a long and bumpy road. Was starting to have abit sore throat. When we reached the elephant camp, we started off with watching an elephat show. It was really amazing! You know that show 'sparkling boy and little randy'?(i think the title is this) It was filmed there! Those who have read my previous post shld noe this. The elephants were really clever! They could even paint!!! Then, we proceeded with our elephant ride. My elephant was quite slow. It was overtook by 11 tourists! But it was fun. The manhout even plucked some flowers for Joycelyn and I. I feel quite sad for the elephants but nothing could be done abt it. I mean it is their fate to be born there. lol... After that, we had bamboo rafting!!! I though it was REALLY FUN!!! We all had our chance to row the boat. My boat had Florence, Clement, Arthur, Fabian, Jessie, Shirlyn and Clarissa. The boys were really funy and kept cracking jokes to keep us laughing. When Clement was rowing the boat, it almost crashed into a rock and we were all making jokes abt his horrible rowing. Then, whe someone stood up, the whole boat will sink a little bit and our shoes would get wet. Arthur was very funny. He said his shoe became Hing Nam alrd, because it was so wet. The ppl who rowed the boat purposely tilt the boat so that we could have fun. It kept going left and right and left again. It was really fun ad we laughed non stop. The tourguide told us that this bamboo rafting was propably grade one with 1 in 1million boats capsizing. Our boat kept tilting left and right we thought we were gonna capsize and increase the rate of capsizing to 2 in a million. In the end, we passed grade 1 with flying clours! Great job ppl! hahahah. after that, we went back to the hotel. When we reached the hotel, we all went to the hong nam to download and clear our bowels. No one has shitted for 2days alrd and our bladders were abt to burst. (i noe, disgusting) But really, i mean no one dared to shit in the village because they din have a flushing system. Took a nice, long bath and went down to have dinner. Then finallt had the chance to go to the night market!!! Everyone was anticipating it the most where we could spend our money!!! It was REALLY fun! I went together with florence, Su Mei, Clement and Kiat Shing. We shopped alot and was really having fun bargaining. The night marlet really sell alot of things at kind of reasonable prices. It was just absolutely fasinating!!! After shopping we went back to the hotel to get some sleep. Couldent sleep the whole night because i was freezing. We changed the temp to 15 degrees and high wind speed. Was so cold the whole night because Jolene accidentally took all the blanket. I just stared into the darkness the whole night. My toes became so frozen and hard, when they touched jolene she was like oh my goodness. hahaha. The next morning, i caught a cold and a serious sore throat. Lost my voice too. Haix...

--Day 5--
Landed in S'pore. :D
